Primary care epileptology

This is a mixed methods project aiming to create a model of epilepsy management within primary care capable of considering both specialist knowledge of epilepsy as a condition and the breadth of generalist knowledge within primary care. Existing literature will be included in a scoping review, using framework synthesis to identify key concepts of epilepsy management already evidenced in primary care.

A service mapping exercise will be carried out on case studies identified as beacon sites for good quality primary care epileptology, in addition to semi-structured interviews of established general practitioners and secondary analysis of routine health data relating to epilepsy management.
