We are delighted to announce that Professor Andrew Clegg, Ageing Research Theme Lead at NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber, has been awarded a prestigious NIHR Research Professorship to improve the lives of older people.
The award, which includes funding of up to £2 million over five years, recognises Professor Clegg’s exceptional contribution to ageing research and his potential to drive further innovations in healthcare for older people.
As one of only seven research leaders selected nationally for this prestigious award, Professor Clegg will continue his pioneering work in developing and implementing evidence-based interventions to improve the lives of older people living with frailty.
He said, “I am delighted to be awarded this NIHR Research Professorship, which will focus on maximising independence for older people in community and hospital settings as a UK and global priority. I am extremely grateful to the many colleagues across the University of Leeds who supported the application, giving their time generously as part of the application development. I am also extremely grateful for the generous support package from the University that has been made available through the award, demonstrating a commitment to investment in applied ageing research as a national priority area. The support from the University is complemented by the great support from colleagues at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, that hosts YH ARC, as the partner NHS organisation for the Research Professorship.”
This recognition reinforces Yorkshire and Humber ARC’s position as a leading centre for ageing research and will strengthen our capacity to deliver impactful research that directly benefits our local communities.
