Shummel Uddin

Shummel is the Co-Production and Community Engagement Manager for NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber (YH ARC). He works closely with communities, public contributors, researchers and partners across the region to ensure that people and communities are meaningfully involved in shaping, delivering and translating health and social care research.

His role supports YH ARC’s commitment to co-producing research with the public and practitioners, helping to ensure research reflects the experiences, priorities and needs of the diverse communities we serve. By building strong relationships with community organisations, public contributors and local stakeholders, Shummel helps create opportunities for people to have a voice in research that can improve health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities across Yorkshire and Humber.

Alongside his professional role, Shummel is actively involved in a range of community initiatives, including local clean-up projects and community fun days. He is also a football coach and runs his own grassroots football club. Football is his greatest passion, both as a coach and a player, and he is committed to using sport as a way of bringing people together and supporting community development.

Outside of work, Shummel enjoys spending time in green spaces, travelling, meeting new people and learning from different perspectives. He is also a fan of Korean Netflix dramas.
