The ARC Yorkshire & Humber BaBi Network study has recently announced its participation in the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Associate Principal Investigator (API) scheme. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in developing research capacity and experience across the UK BaBi sites.

By joining the NIHR API scheme, BaBi Network study sites across the country will now be able to offer aspiring researchers the opportunity to gain valuable experience as associate principal investigators. This initiative aims to nurture the next generation of research leaders, providing them with hands-on experience in managing studies and developing crucial skills in research delivery, oversight and governance.

Professor Sam Debbage, ARC Yorkshire & Humber Academic and Capacity Building Lead said; ‘We are delighted that BaBi has joined the NIHR API scheme. BaBi has already increased research capacity across the UK in terms of clinical research delivery, so we are thrilled that the API scheme will enable further development for clinicians to gain experience in being a principal investigator for research. We hope BaBi will contribute to the training of future leaders in research’.
