Yorkshire and Humber ARC Patient and Public Involvement/Engagement (PPIE) Strategy

The National Institute for Health Research Yorkshire and Humber ARC (NIHR ARC YH) supports
research that aims to tackle inequalities and improve health and well-being for our communities.
Yorkshire and Humber is one of the largest and most diverse of the English regions. There are stark
and persistent inequalities in life expectancy and chronic ill health, both across the region and within
local authority areas. We recognise the need to involve seldom heard groups and underserved
communities, to enable our research to better serve the needs of the Yorkshire and Humber
population.

This Patient and Public Involvement (PPIE) Strategy document first describes how it was developed
in consultation with members of the public and with key stakeholders, and how it will remain under
continual development using a Quality Improvement methodology. It then includes key aspects of
our approach to PPIE in the programme.
