YHARC’s Clinical Academic & Research Inclusion Lead selected for prestigious leadership programme

Dr Jamilla Hussain, a Palliative Medicine Clinical Academic and NIHR ARC Yorkshire & Humber (YH ARC) Research Inclusion Lead and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT) Consultant in Palliative Care, has been selected for the prestigious Academy of Medical Sciences’ Future Leaders in Innovation, Enterprise and Research (FLIER) programme.

The initiative develops trailblazers capable of working across academia, industry and the NHS to address major healthcare challenges.

Dr Jamilla, will represent the Bradford Institute for Health Research and the BTHFT. She is one of 19 emerging leaders from a range of sectors across thelife sciences chosen to participatein the 18-month, cross-sectorlearning experience. Dr Jamilla said:

“The FLIERprogramme will provide aunique opportunity for me tostep back, learn alongside peersfrom different sectors and thinkcreatively about how I can usemy role as a clinical academicto help tackle health inequalitiesand ensure care improves forthe people who most need it.”

Through FLIER, participants will share insights, build lasting networks and develop their innovative ideas through coaching,workshops and collaboration.
