This lunch and learn shares findings from a study exploring how older women aged 70 and over could be better supported to self-manage osteoporosis through integrated care and improved care navigation in UK primary care.
The study involved interviews with 30 community-dwelling older women (aged 70+) diagnosed with osteoporosis, including 11 women of South Asian heritage, and 30 NHS primary healthcare professionals, including GPs, nurses, physiotherapists and pharmacists. Using a Constructivist Grounded Theory approach, the research explored knowledge, communication, care pathways and self-management practices.
The findings were reviewed with a co-production group of older women and healthcare professionals, which helped inform the development of practical recommendations.
Join us to hear about the study findings and recommendations, and take part in the discussion.
