Silke Vereeken is a Research Associate with the Mental Health and Addiction Research Group (MHARG) in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York. She holds a Masters degree in clinical and health psychology and is currently in the final stages of her PhD in health sciences at the University of York, which included developing and investigating a Syndemic model of health experience in youths and adults with severe mental illness through health behaviours.
Silke is part of the Research and Ethics Governance Committee, a guest lecturer for the Masters in Public Health at University of York, and frequently collaborates with researchers from universities across England on the topics of resilience, severe mental illness, dietary influence, child/youth mental health, and health behaviours.
Currently, Silke’s research focuses on loneliness in adults with SMI and engagement in health behaviours within the same population. Her overall research interests can be summed up to health behaviours, the effect of natural environments, the use of wearable technology and nudging, and public health.
