The internationally renowned Born in Bradford: Age of Wonder (BiB: AoW) has launched its latest and most crucial phase, shifting its focus from schools to further education settings and the community as its original cohort enters early adulthood.
Supported by the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber (YHARC), this programme is capturing the experiences and voices of young people as they make the significant transition into adult life. With the oldest participants now turning 18, BiB: AoW is committed to keeping the research up-to-date and relevant.
The BiB Online Hub: Research Meets Reward
The core of this new phase is the BiB Online Hub, a new web-based research app designed to encourage continued participation from 16 to 18-year-olds.
Joining the Hub is simple and offers real benefits:
- Participation & Pay: Young people can complete questionnaires, provide health measures, and submit bio samples, earning up to £20 worth of vouchers in the process.
- CV Boosting: Crucially, the Hub will offer opportunities for upskilling and CV boosting, providing valuable skills and experience for future careers.
- Shaping the Future: Through this ongoing research, BiB: AoW aims to gather up-to-date data that will shape the health and wellbeing of the next generation in Bradford.
How to Get Involved
The BiB: AoW team is actively collaborating with sixth forms and colleges across the district. Enrolled students aged 16–18 are invited to take part in organized sessions known as ‘Sign Up and Go.’ Parental consent is obtained for participants under 18.
For those who are 18, it’s even easier:
- Any person aged 18 or over who lives, works, or studies in the Bradford District can sign up directly to the BiB Online Hub at any time, as they are legally old enough to consent for themselves.
- Interested young adults can find the sign-up link on the Born in Bradford website, on the Age of Wonder page.
The BiB: AoW team is keen to connect with anyone who works with young people aged 16–18 in the area. To collaborate, please get in touch with zarina.mirza@bthft.nhs.uk or ageofwonder@bthft.nhs.uk.
