Book now for a groundbreaking two-day conference that brings together leading researchers, clinicians, and practitioners in the field of Hospital at Home care (including virtual wards). Jointly hosted by the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber, NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Greater Manchester, and the Hospital at Home Society, this event uniquely focuses on exploring and developing the research evidence and best practice examples of existing implementation that underpins the service delivery of hospitals at home.

Day 1 will focus on adult hospital at home with keynote speaker Charlotte Lynch, Programme Lead for Virtual Wards at NHS England.

Day 2 will be the first ever full day conference on Children and Young People’s Hospital at Home services with keynote speakers Steve Turner, President of The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and Matthew Clarke, Children and Young Peoples Speciality Lead at NHS England.

The event will include:

  • Latest research evidence and evaluation findings from the NIHR Applied Research Collaborations and other NIHR Infrastructure
  • Best practice examples from NHS Trusts
  • Interactive sessions for knowledge exchange
  • Emerging evidence and best practice examples in this developing field
  • Implementation insights and challenges
  • Opportunities to shape future research
  • Patient and family experiences

Can I submit an abstract?

YES – CALL FOR ABSTRACTS IS OPEN!

We’re putting together a fantastic programme featuring the latest research, renowned speakers from across the UK, and key discussions relevant to health services research, policy, practice and implementation. 

We know that incredible work is happening in this space, and this is a great opportunity to share it! 

For those involved in research or evaluation work on Hospital at Home, including virtual wards we welcome you to submit an abstract for the conference. Selected abstracts will be invited to give either a 10-minute presentation or a 2-minute rapid-fire talk on Monday 23rd June or Tuesday 24th June 2025. Posters will be displayed during lunch, giving delegates the chance to discuss their work.

Creative Submissions:

Alongside submitting an abstract or poster based on traditional research studies and programmes, we want to give everyone the opportunity to engage in a more creative way. Whether it’s a personal reflective poem, a blog about a meaningful patient experience, or even a painting that captures your team’s impact, we’re keen to introduce creativity into how we think about Hospital at Home and virtual wards. If you are interested in submitting a creative piece, please send it to yharc@bthft.nhs.uk. Poems, photography, and artwork should be accompanied by a brief paragraph discussing the key themes or meaning of the work.

Who should submit:

The conference is open to anyone working on a project or initiative focusing on Hospital at Home Care and Virtual Wards including academic researchers, industry partners, clinicians, and the voluntary sector.
