The NIHR has published its 2024/2025 annual report showcasing the profound impact of NIHR-funded and supported research over the past year, highlighting the numerous ways it has improved lives and made a difference to families and communities.
NIHR has demonstrated how it is driving health and care improvement in four key ways:
Impact – NIHR research changes lives and improves quality of life for the nation
Inclusion – NIHR is funded by the public for the public, working with everyone in our society
Innovation – NIHR powers the UK’s world-leading reputation for life sciences, innovation, and med tech
Investment – NIHR research saves money, attracts investment and powers economic growth.
We are thrilled to see ARC Yorkshire & Humber projects feature three times in the report, some of which made possible through collaboration with other ARCs and NIHR infrastructure.
I am immensely proud to see three ARC Yorkshire and Humber projects featured in this year’s NIHR annual report. These projects perfectly respond to the new NHS 10 Year Plan, embodying all three major shifts – from analogue to digital, from sickness to prevention, and from hospital to community care. This recognition demonstrates the commitment of our researchers to improving health outcomes for our local population while developing evidence-based solutions that can be scaled nationally. By focusing on these critical areas of transformation, our teams are not just addressing today’s healthcare challenges but actively shaping a more sustainable and effective health system for the future. Their work stands as a testament to the power of applied health research in driving meaningful change where it matters most – in the communities we serve.
