The NIHR Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration (YHARC) has launched a dedicated project page on its website, centralising the Child of the North report series. This initiative provides vital access to research-driven insights and recommendations aimed at tackling the persistent inequalities faced by children and young people across the North of England and the broader UK.

The Child of the North (CoTN) project, a collaborative effort involving the Centre for Young Lives (CfYL) and the N8 Research Partnership, is producing a series of 12 impactful reports throughout 2024 and into early 2025. These reports delve into critical issues such as child poverty, mental health support, and the overall life chances of young people, offering evidence-based recommendations for policymakers and practitioners.

YHARC researchers are actively supporting the “Child of the North” series, contributing their expertise to the rigorous research and pragmatic solutions presented in each report. This collaboration underscores YHARC’s commitment to translating research into actionable strategies that improve the lives of children and families.

The newly launched project page on the YHARC website serves as a comprehensive resource hub, featuring:

  • All downloadable reports from the “Child of the North” series.
  • All links for CoTN/CfYL Report Webinar
  • Summaries of key findings and recommendations.
  • Information on the research methodology and collaborative efforts.
  • Links to relevant resources and organisations.

The CoTN report series underscores the importance of placing the interests and life chances of children and young people at the forefront of policy and delivery, particularly in light of ongoing financial constraints.
