In 30 madrasas across Bradford district, the community engagement team of a local community organisation, Faith in Communities, is working in partnerships with BiB researchers to plan and implement workshops promoting healthy diet and physical activity through madrasas with children from ethnic minority background, predominantly South Asian (reflective of Bradford ethnic minority demographics), to prevent childhood obesity. Islamic leaders, madrasa staff and parents of children attending madrasas were involved in the coproduction of bespoke toolkit with detailed workshops on encouraging healthy dietary habits, physical activities, and how faith settings can act as healthy places.
