Yorkshire and Humber Secure Data Environment

Share:

Researchers and academics, including YHARC are connecting on an unprecedented scale to share health and social care data – and save lives.

They are pooling their expertise to take forward an NHS-led, world class infrastructure that harnesses powerful datasets from diverse research studies spanning the region and unlocks its full potential.
It adds pace and scale to our collective track record in health research, building on established projects such as:

  • Connected Bradford – which links health, education, social care, crime, environmental and council data.
  • Leeds Cancer Dataset – at the forefront of collecting information on cancer referrals, diagnosis, treatment and outcomes for over 15 years.

Our SDE offers a transformational opportunity to improve patient care and safety, reduce inequalities and enhance life chances for 5.7m people. We also have ambitions for it to encourage more to take part in clinical trials.

As we bring this community with us on our journey into a new research era, it is shaped by NHS-leading public engagement, and governed by the highest standards of data security.
