Guest Speaker
Dr Hollie Henderson – BaBi Netowork Research Fellow
The Born and Bred in (BaBi) Network is a collection of local birth cohort studies taking place across England. These studies gain consent from pregnant women, during their antenatal appointments, to link together data that are routinely collected about them and their baby for research. This includes data from health, education and social care services. The aim is to use these data to build a clearer picture of families lives over time, which can help shape local services.
In this Lunch & Learn, Hollie will discuss the potential of using linked routine data, from the BaBi studies, as a local health intelligence tool for child and maternal health. She will discuss the findings from her PhD research, which explored the opportunities and challenges of using locally-linked routinely collected data to support local decision-making. This session will include Hollie’s reflections on:
- Prioritising research questions with local policymakers, service providers and community members to be addressed with linked routine data.
- Using routine data to address an identified local research priority.
- Interviewing local decision-makers to understand how they could be engaged and supported to use research produced using linked routine data.
Based on this, Hollie will present her recommendations for researchers wanting to use routine data to support local policy and practice.
