At NIHR ARC Yorkshire and Humber, we’re transforming how research evidence reaches those who need it most. Our Implementation and Knowledge Mobilisation themes work together to bridge the gap between research discovery and real-world impact, ensuring that innovative health and care research directly benefits patients and communities across our region.
Our Integrated Approach
We’ve developed a unique approach that brings together knowledge mobilisation, communications, and implementation science. Our implementation science team, part of the Improvement Academy, forms the implementation arm of YH ARC and works hand-in-hand with our knowledge mobilisation efforts. Whether supporting healthcare professionals planning for implementation or helping researchers study and evaluate implementation, this integrated model ensures research doesn’t just generate evidence—it creates change.

Implementation is increasingly being put at the forefront of research funding requirements. It can be pretty confusing and stressful when you have a short amount of time to put together an implementation research proposal, particularly when you have little implementation science experience. Hundreds of theories, models and frameworks, thousands of published papers, and a lack of practical and accessible guidance can add to this confusion.
